Sarasota Woodturners is a local woodturning club servicing the greater Sarasota-Bradenton area of south west Florida. The club brings together both the young and the young at heart who share an interest in the creative art of woodturning. Members enjoy sharing information about all aspects of this wonderful activity. What is Woodturning?

For those who are not familiar with this intriguing activity, woodturning is a unique form of woodworking that uses a lathe. Normally, woodworking involves the moving  of a hand or power tool along or across a piece of wood to create various designs and forms. In woodturning, the wood itself is spinning on a lathe and the tool is relatively stationary. This change in dynamics allows for an incredible variety of outcomes especially when the tool is in the hands of an experienced turner. A visit to our members' photo gallery will bear witness to this.
