This will be an important and fun session:

Jonathon Weinbach will be presenting how to turn a top and how to to put together blanks for tops.

Our club will have a booth at the Sarasota County Fair in March 2024.  It runs from March 15th through March 24th with setup and take down days on March 13th and 25th.  Your participation is greatly needed to support this event.  A signup schedule will be posted on-line in a few days.

We are going to need several hundred top blanks to take to the Fair. We will have a small lathe there to turn tops which will be sold. We need many volunteers to man the booth and to turn tops.

We will begin serious preparation for the Sarasota County Fair at this meeting.  The program will be a combination demo and hands-on presentation of top turning.  Bring your favorite spindle gouge if you want!

We will begin distribution of materials for pen-making and top turning for the Fair.  Pick up some for an early start, to avoid being subject to last-minute nagging.

1. The annual election of new board members will be held in December.  Nominations for President, Vice-President/Programs Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer will be made at the November meeting.  At this time, we have nominations/volunteers for all positions except Vice-President/Program Chairman.  This is a very important office, but does not require any experience or woodturning skill level.  Please start thinking about someone to nominate, or consider volunteering for V.P.  The salary is not great, but the personal rewards and admiration of your fellow club members make it worth the (minimal) effort. If you have someone in mind, or want your name on the ballot, please reach out to Jonny Weinbach before the meeting. 

2. Our club has been the beneficiary again of some remarkable generosity.  When we picked up our new lathe, which is a beauty, we were also given quite a few turning blanks and other materials.  Much will be available at this meeting, and the timing is perfect to begin turning those Xmas gifts.

3. Franck plans to bring some tools and turning blanks for sale.  This will be a great opportunity to pick up some bargains!

4. There will be an interesting raffle or two. 
Bring lots of cash!

5. Please review the revised bylaws that are attached. 
The club membership needs to vote to approve them, and this is a loose end that should be tied up.
